Waves
Waves is an interactive piece that explores the RGB color model — an additive system in which red, green, and blue light combine to produce a broad spectrum of color.
The piece generates three independent sine waves, one for each color channel. Each wave has its own speed, length, and power, and viewers can adjust these parameters in real time. As the waves intersect at varying intensities, they mix into an ever-shifting range of colors.
Waves is ultimately about emergence — the way three simple, predictable signals can produce something visually complex and alive. What looks like a straightforward system quickly becomes a landscape of layered color, a reminder that richness doesn't require complexity at the source.
Waves was on display at New Alliance Gallery's Synth-tember 2025 show from 9/12/25–11/14/25.
Interactive Controls
Each column controls a single color
Each row controls a wave property:
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| SPEED | Controls how fast the wave travels |
| LENGTH | Controls how long the wave is |
| POWER | Controls how bright the wave is |
